Excavation & Grading

Digging, cutting and shaping ground, from a single hole to a full reshaped site.

Lago Vista · Austin · statewide across Texas

What excavation and grading actually is

Any dig, any shape, on any kind of ground.

We excavate and grade for access, construction, drainage, utilities, concrete, pads and general site use. Sometimes that's rocky, sloped Hill Country ground where equipment choice and field judgment matter. Sometimes it's a flat lot and a hole that needs digging. We do both.

The same scope covers building pads, trenches, driveways, drainage paths, utility runs, concrete preparation and culverts.

It also covers reshaping ground because you want it to look better. Terracing a slope, building retaining walls, and grading a property into the shape you had in mind for it. Grading isn't only about function, and we treat the finished look as part of the job.

When ground needs reshaping

  • The ground is open but unusable

Cleared land that still slopes wrong or can't take a slab as it sits.

  • You need a building pad

Cut, fill, and compaction to a level surface the foundation crew can work from.

  • You want the land to look different

Terracing, retaining walls, or reshaping a slope into something you actually want to look at. Function and appearance in the same pass.

  • Trenches or utility runs are needed

Excavation for lines, culverts, footings, or drainage paths through rocky ground.

Sounds like something else?

If the property is still covered in brush, clearing comes first. If the problem is specifically water, that is a drainage scope.

How we excavate and grade

Three steps, on every property.

  1. We work out the job and bring the right machine

Elevation needs, access, drainage, and which areas need cutting, filling, trenching or leveling. Then equipment matched to the ground, not to what's parked closest. Wrong iron costs days.

  2. We move the material and shape it

Excavate, relocate and shape. Material brought in or hauled out as the plan requires, then rough graded for its intended use with fall worked in where water needs to go.

  3. We finish it to the spec

Final grading, compaction, stabilization or material placement when it's in the scope.

What can change the sequence: unknown rock, buried debris, wet conditions, or changing field conditions. We'd rather pause a day than tear up ground getting it done on schedule.

What drives the price

Rock is the variable that matters most — here's what moves the number.

Pricing comes down to equipment time and how hard the ground fights back. Two identical-looking lots can differ by half depending on what is under the surface.

  • Rock conditions

How shallow the limestone sits, and how hard it is.

  • Volume of material moved

How many yards get cut, filled, or relocated.

  • Depth and level of finish

Rough grade versus a compacted, finish graded surface.

  • Access to the work area

Whether equipment can reach it and turn around.

  • Imported or exported material

What has to be trucked in or hauled away.

  • Estimates are free. Unknown rock, buried debris, or wet conditions may affect final pricing — we would rather be right than fast.
